Last night we went on our nightly family bike ride. This time we decided that I should start to practice pulling the boys with my bike. All in all, it went well. The balancing and width judgement wasn't to bad. The extra weight will take some time to get used to. The boys are about 65 lbs. combined, then add the weight of the cart. Luckily, my legs have always been the strongest part of my body.
On this bike ride, I decided to bring along the camera so that I could show those of you at home reading this, what we see when we ride. This is only one of the routes we take, but it is typically less traffic and better for me to practice on. Besides, the kids love to see the animals. During one of my picture stops, Jason decided that I should get a close up of some of the sheep. The problem was that they were grazing and had no interest in looking at me for a good photo opp. So Jason began "calling to them... Baa Baa." Can you visualize this? All was going well until one sheep out in the field decided we were bothering the others and began charging us. Brooklyn was terrified yelling "go daddy go, he's gonna get us!" Yet, the boys slept through the whole thing (they skipped naps earlier in the day). I turned to get back on my bike and stepped into a soft spot and twisted my ankle. Thanks a lot Jason! So in pain, I hopped back onto my bike to cycle us to safety. What is funny about all of this is that there was a small creek separating us from the sheep, but who knows, he could have jumped it. All I know is that it got our hearts pumping and I doubt Jason will be antagonizing any more animals in the near future.
